Collared by the Vampire Prince is a dark enemies-to-lovers romantasy about captivity, power, desire, and the dangerous consequences of being drawn to the very person who holds power over you—only to discover he may be the one person who truly understands you.

Volmasque is deliberately an unequal and often cruel world, and Prince Nathaniel is a product of it. He is possessive, controlling, morally grey, and capable of crossing lines a hero never should. Some sexual encounters take place in circumstances where real-world consent is compromised, even when attraction and desire between the characters are genuine.

In another world, Kira and Nathaniel might simply have chosen each other. In this one, desire, captivity, hatred, tenderness and power are much harder to separate.

So expect a romance that may sometimes make you think, I really should not want these two together—while hopefully wanting them together anyway. Expect darkness, resistance, yearning, explicit spice, morally complicated choices, and moments of unexpected gentleness.

Content warnings

Collared is dark romantic escapism that deliberately explores fantasies of surrender, coercion and unequal power within the safety of fiction.

Their inclusion is not intended as an endorsement of those dynamics in real life. This story does not seek to glorify sexual violence, and the Academy’s institutional exploitation is not presented as aspirational. Care has been taken in the portrayal of desire, choice, coercion, and the loss of autonomy.

If you would prefer to know exactly what you may encounter before reading, detailed content warnings are provided below.

Show content warningsHide content warnings

Content warnings for Book One include: Captivity and forced confinement; coercive control and significant power imbalances; dubious consent and explicit sexual content; threats of rape and sexual assault, including assault in a group setting; pet/master dynamics, degradation and restraints; blood drinking and blood play; physical violence, including violence involving blades; injury and death; disturbing imagery involving death, including a brief depiction of a deceased child; forced servitude, systemic oppression and discrimination; and references to torture and execution.

Care has been taken to minimise graphic violence and gore on the page. Collared is not intended to be a horror story centred on suffering or brutality; its darkness lives far more in gothic atmosphere with candlelit halls, dangerous power dynamics, and morally complicated romance rather than in lingering depictions of violence.

This list is not exhaustive. Please take care of yourself, and know that it is always okay to put the book down (DNF) if any of these themes become uncomfortable for you.

Enjoy the darkness,Darcy Fayton
